Academic Policies

Admission Eligibility
Applicants who wish to enroll in the Professional Shiatsu Therapist diploma program must:
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have had some exposure to bodywork.
  • Be able to honor the financial obligations of the program.
  • Have completed grade 12 (or equivalent) or be a mature student.

    Diploma Requirements
    In order to receive their diploma, students enrolled in the Professional Shiatsu Therapist diploma program must satisfy the following requirements:
  • Receive a passing grade of 70% or higher in Anatomy and Physiology, Foundations of TCM, and Communications and Ethics.
  • Receive a passing grade of 75% or higher in Shiatsu Theory and Practice and Student Clinic.
  • Attend a minimum of 90% of all classes.
    In addition, all financial obligations must be met before a diploma is issued.

    Exam Rewrites
    Students will have the opportunity to rewrite major tests and exams. Arrangements must be made with the Course Instructor or the Program Director. An administration fee of $30 will be charged for all exam rewrites.

    Academic Appeals
    Academic appeals are limited to matters effecting academic evaluation, decisions regarding admissions or course exemptions.

    Dismissal
    Students enrolled in the Professional Shiatsu Therapist Diploma program may be dismissed for any of the following:
  • Violent or abusive behaviour.
  • Transgression of the discrimination policy.
  • Students misrepresenting themselves as certified practitioners.
  • Poor attendance.
  • Failure to meet financial obligations.
  • Attending class under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
